Assistant to Agent, Joe Phillips (Theatre, Film and Television Department)

Posted November 4th 2022

Curtis Brown is one of the world’s leading literary and talent agencies, representing actors, presenters, authors, playwrights, film and television writers and directors and theatre directors.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced assistant to support and work alongside an Agent in our Theatre, Film and Television (TFTV) department, representing writers and directors and handling literary material for the screen. Joe is also Co-Head of the TFTV Department at Curtis Brown and plays a role in the senior management team. This role centres around delivering excellent client care and systems administration and supporting the development of the Agent’s Office.

Promotion of the clients’ work, seeking out new opportunities for them both here in the UK and internationally, and safeguarding their interests is at the heart of what an agent does, so the successful candidate will need to quickly gain a comprehensive knowledge of each of the client’s work and each client’s specific individual requirements. An important part of this job involves building relationships both with the clients and within the wider industry.

We are looking for someone with an authentic passion for and interest in film, theatre and television and the industry that surrounds it. The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working in a Literary or Talent Agency, or in television, or film development. Please note this is not an entry-level role.

We offer an extensive list of benefits designed to meet your needs for today and in the future, including: free yoga and personal training classes, many health and wellbeing tools and resources, eyecare vouchers, a bike to work scheme, season ticket loans, private healthcare (after 2 years’ service), a retail discounts portal, various employee groups and social events to get involved in, and much more!

Please note this role is currently based on a hybrid working pattern which involves a mix of working from home and from our central London offices. This is envisaged to continue in the medium term, but is subject to ongoing review.

We aim to build a creative environment that celebrates the differences of our clients and colleagues, offering equal opportunities regardless of gender, race,
socio-economic background, age, disability, sexual orientation and national origin. In our role as conduits and champions of cultural expression we are conscious of our responsibility to reflect the world around us. This means making a considered effort to create an inclusive culture in the workplace and promote opportunities for the broadest possible range of talent. We welcome all applications from people with interesting ideas, skills and experience.
