Live Comedy Assistant

United Agents is looking for a full-time Live Comedy Assistant to join the Comedy Department. In this pivotal role, you’ll support the Head of Live Comedy and assist with our exciting roster of comedy clients, playing an integral part in the growth of our Live Comedy Team.

 

This is a growing, fast-paced office where you will be a valued team member. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for, and knowledge of, the comedy industry; be calm, organised, and target-driven; and possess a good sense of humour.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Submit client availability and respond to requests promptly
  • Proactively seek out new Live opportunities for clients, independently reaching out to festivals, venues, bookers, and promoters
  • Manage diaries for all clients’ Live work and maintain the Live Bookings calendar
  • Handle visa processes, sales reports, show materials, and listings
  • Be willing to travel and partake in evening and weekend work when required
  • Regularly update clients on bookings and Live strategy via email, phone, and in person
  • Serve as a Production Assistant throughout the Edinburgh Fringe, supporting street team management, producing client shows, and providing ad hoc support to clients
  • Build and maintain relationships with industry professionals, attending showcases, client shows, and comedy festivals
  • Stay updated on the comedy scene, seeking exciting new talent for the department and staying informed on venues, festivals, and industry trends
  • Lead planning for the United Agents biannual industry showcase
  • Process invoices and track incoming payments for clients
  • Update client biographies and pitching materials

 

Key Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in a talent agency, comedy venue, comedy festival, casting director’s office, broadcaster, or production company
  • Excellent communication, time management, and administrative skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • A target-driven mentality
  • Knowledge of and immersion in the comedy industry, with an awareness of the current landscape
  • A friendly yet professional manner, working well with department and team members
  • The ability to multitask effectively
  • A capacity to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines, with the ability to prioritise and maintain sharp attention to detail
  • Trustworthiness, accuracy, and discretion when handling highly confidential material and client information
  • A genuine passion for the entertainment and comedy industry
