We represent clients across a range of areas including internationally best-selling authors and illustrators, leading writers, directors and creatives for theatre, film and TV, award-winning on-screen and digital talent, high-profile speakers, and major brands. The role:

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Senior Finance Manager to oversee the day-to-day financial operations of our busy literary, theatrical and talent agency. Managing one full time team member, the senior finance manager will work closely with the agency’s Directors, Agents, and external accountants. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the smooth running of the finance and accounts within the company, ensuring accuracy, efficiency and compliance across all financial processes.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys balancing financial management with practical administration. As a small business, we are looking for someone who is happy to be involved in both higher-level financial oversight and day-to-day bookkeeping and data entry. The ideal candidate will be meticulous and collaborative, with excellent attention to detail and the confidence to work independently while supporting colleagues across the business.

The role is approximately three days per week, with flexibility to increase hours during peak periods such as royalty processing, payroll cover and year-end.

Job Specification:

  • Manage the day-to-day finance function using QuickBooks Online, including invoice processing, journal entries, bank reconciliations and financial reporting.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns.
  • Produce management accounts, including profit and loss reports, and support the directors with budgeting and financial planning.
  • Liaise with the company’s external accountants on year-end accounts, statutory reporting and financial compliance.
  • Line manage and support the Client Accounting Manager, overseeing client account processes, payment runs and providing cover during periods of absence.
  • Process the agency’s biannual royalty distributions and resolve royalty queries with publishers and licensees.
  • Maintain accurate financial, payroll and HR records using QuickBooks Online, Bradbury Phillips and the Mentor HR system.
  • Identify and implement improvements to financial systems and processes.
  • Undertake any other finance and administrative duties required to support the effective running of the agency.

Experience & Skills

  • Previous experience in a finance, bookkeeping or finance management role.
  • Strong working knowledge of bookkeeping, journals, reconciliations, VAT returns and management reporting.
  • Experience using QuickBooks Online (or similar accounting software) and strong Excel skills.
  • Experience supporting or reviewing payroll processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Confident working independently and collaboratively, with experience supervising or mentoring colleagues.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with accountants, buyers, clients and colleagues.
  • Professional, proactive and able to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Experience of Bradbury Phillips or similar agency management software would be highly advantageous.
  • Experience within a literary, theatrical, media or talent agency would be very beneficial, as would experience of an adjacent industry e.g. publishing house, production company or similar.
