Upholding Agent Standards

PMA membership denotes good agent practice, as outlined in the PMA Approved Code of Practice.

The PMA Code defines good business practice, a commitment to clients, and engagement with industry-wide values of equality, diversity and inclusion, and anti-harassment.

Join the PMA

Thank you for your interest in the Personal Managers’ Association (PMA), a member-led network of talent agencies representing creatives across TV, film and theatre. We welcome applications from experienced agencies committed to engaging with our work.

Membership is selective, with limited spaces each year. You will be asked to provide the following information when you apply:

  • A copy of your Terms of Business (TOBs) – which we expect to comply with the PMA Approved Code of Conduct and (Artists’ Agencies only) with the Employment Agencies Act
  • Two references from current PMA members (please confirm with referees beforehand)
  • A bank or accountant letter confirming a separate client account

To apply, your agency must have at least three years in business or be led by agents with equivalent senior agent experience and a strong industry reputation. Prior PMA engagement is considered.

We recommend contacting us before applying — email info@thepma.com to arrange a call.

Applications are reviewed each year from February to March. Alongside your submission Council members consider the needs and capacity of current membership. Final decisions are sent by April. We’re unable to offer feedback on declined applications. If you reapply, please highlight how your agency has grown since your last submission.

Can you recommend someone to act as my agent?

No. An agent/client relationship is unique. Most agencies have details about how to approach them on their websites.

I’m graduating from drama school soon, do you have advice about how to find an agent?

We don’t have advice about how to find an agent.  But we do have a guideline document, written with the support of Equity and Spotlight, for agents, graduates and schools which explains what to expect and best practice when you start looking for an agent. You can download this here.

Can you help me find an intern position?

The PMA does not offer intern positions. Keep an eye on the vacancies page, our members sometimes post intern positions there.

I applied for a job advertised on your site, but haven’t heard back…

Jobs are posted by the agencies advertised. Please contact the agency directly.

Can I place an advert on the PMA website?

Sorry, no! Our vacancies board is for PMA members only.

I’m a parent looking for acting/agent advice for my child, can you help?

The guideline document written by the PMA and Spotlight may be useful. It is not a “how to find an agent” guide.  It looks at the roles, responsibilities and best practice for agents, casting directors and parents working with children. You can download this here.
