June Epstien

June Epstien

Susie Figgis asked that we circulate her tribute to the late June Epstien, below …
It was with huge sadness in which I discovered that the agent June Epstien died recently and I feel it would be sad if her death went unacknowledged.
When I first started in casting all those years ago, she was the first agent to take me out to lunch. It was the Spaghetti House in Goodge Street and she seemed ancient even then, in the wonderful pillar box hat which she wore whilst dining.
In fact, to my mind, she turned out to be one of the great agents. I don’t think I have worked on a single Tim Burton movie that has not had one of her clients in it.
She was honourable, kind and honest. Her actors never let you down and I find it incredibly sad to think that the phone will not ring again and when I pick up it will be ‘hello it’s June here, what can I do to help you?’
A great loss.
