Team Assistant – Dramatists' department

Posted June 28th 2022

Berlin Associates is one of the UK’s best known boutique agencies for film, television and theatre. Based in our warehouse-style office off Bermondsey Street at London Bridge, we represent and manage a select list of prestigious and up-and-coming writers, directors, producers, designers, composers and below-the-line talent. Due to increasing demand, our vibrant and exciting dramatists’ department is looking for a confident and dedicated team assistant.

The Job:

Face of the agency… The role will involve answering the phone, greeting guests, running errands, fielding daily enquiries and generally acting as the face & voice of Berlin Associates to the outside world. This also means keeping our client bios and website up to date alongside being across our company socials. The selected applicant will be confident, well-presented and friendly.

The basics… This is an administrative role, supporting the day-to-day workload of the dramatists’ agents and our office manager. Our work revolves around the negotiation and implementation of client contracts, and so we require someone with an eye for detail to file and manage executed contracts and track payments and invoices. Another key aspect of this role will be supporting our agents in the exploitation of subsidiary rights, particularly across amateur and foreign theatre rights.

Creative… As the selected applicant will be supporting the dramatists’ department, an instinct and passion for reading scripts and working with writers is essential. Alongside reading client work and crafting feedback, you’ll be supporting our submissions team to service our open submission policy and help the agency find and take on new clients. This can involve representing the agency at screenings, showcases and plays.

Who we’re looking for… The only required qualifications are GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths. Our clients’ work brings us into contact with a huge cross-section of the creative industries, in the UK and internationally, and as a result the role will require strong organisational and multi-tasking skills, the ability to prioritise and use initiative as well as presentation and customer-facing skills. We actively seek applicants from underrepresented groups and we are a committed equal opportunities employer.

Please email agents@berlinassociates.com if you wish to apply for this role. Please attach a CV and a covering letter including a paragraph or two on a film, play or television series that you have particularly enjoyed watching over the past year.
