FAQs

Advice and answers

The PMA is a membership organisation for Agents, therefore our  advice and services are predominantly for  agents and agencies.  We do not work directly with artists, writers and directors. The most frequently asked questions are answered here.

I need advice about a client leaving my agency or joining from another agency
Please refer to the PMA Approved Code of Practice (ACOP). The PMA ACOP, For Artists’ Agents contains commission split guidance for Artists’ agents when a client moves from one agent to another, including the use of protected projects letters and any commission splits.  It also outlines our position on notice period. The PMA does not currently provide commission split guidance for Dramatists, Directors or Creatives. Finally remember that any conflict over a client’s terms of business with their previous agent is a legal matter between the artist and their previous agent.
I need advice about how to login/send an email/post a vacancy online
Login, click on your Member Profile and choose from the options available. Your login will be your email address + a password.  If you have lost your password, click “lost your password” to reset.
Can you recommend someone to act as my agent?
No. An agent/client relationship is unique. Most agencies have details about how to approach them on their websites.
I’m graduating from drama school soon, do you have advice about how to find an agent?
We don't have advice about how to find an agent.  But we do have a guideline document, written with the support of Equity and Spotlight, for agents, graduates and schools which explains what to expect and best practice when you start looking for an agent. Email info@thepma.com to request a copy.
Can you help me find an intern position?
The PMA does not offer intern positions. Keep an eye on the vacancies page, our members sometimes post intern positions there.
I applied for a job advertised on your site, but haven’t heard back…
Jobs are posted by the agencies advertised. Please contact the agency directly.
Can I place an advert on the PMA website?
Sorry, no! Our vacancies board is for PMA members only.
I’m a parent looking for acting/agent advice for my child, can you help?
The guideline document written by the PMA and Spotlight may be useful. It is not a "how to find an agent" guide.  It looks at the roles, responsibilities and best practice for agents, casting directors and parents working with children . Email info@thepma.com to request a copy.
