Cast Medicals

Hi there,

If anyone has any experience of successfully pushing back on intrusive medicals for actors leading shows, I would love to hear about this.

We have a client playing a lead in a Channel 5 (!!) show and apparently, given that the actor is deemed “essential” to the show they require that the actor undertake an ECG, a toxicology test and urinalysis which to my mind is extraordinary.

Beyond the obvious invasion of privacy, it would be great to hear where anyone has been able to push back with any legal argument or similar? They’re pretty adamant that this isn’t something they’re going to change their minds about and I imagine letting this slide for one show would result in this becoming more acceptable for others.
