Yesterday, I asked Spotlight to explain why it was allowing the Link to be used to advertise workshops run by Casting Directors. Apart from the obvious conflict of interest, the Link is, in effect, being used as free advertising space to profit the Casting Director which is surely not its correct purpose. It is highly disturbing that certain Casting Directors are now charging actors ã150 for the opportunity of meeting them under the guise of the word, “workshop”.
Pippa at Spotlight agrees that is is inappropriate and unacceptable that the Link is being used in this way and has contacted the Casting Director concerned.
I think the PMA should actively oppose any further moves by Casting Directors to charge actors for what is, in effect, a general meeting.
