Eastenders Update

I’ve been in touch with Ollie Kent to find out when they expect the show to revert back to business as usual, following the crisis they’ve experienced. Sharon Batten got back to me to say that although they believe they’re over the worst of it, in terms of heavy script re-writes, they’re still dealing with the fall-out and haven’t caught up with storylines. They still have a shortened length of time between the storylines being published and the delivery date of the production script. Consequently they will continue to have special measures in place to cope with this. It means that they may still take scripts at 3rd draft and perform in house re-writes (by a re-writer not a script editor) However, the terms of the recent agreement between the PMA/WGGB/BBC will still apply, meaning that the original writer should receive their full fee and residuals if their script is removed from them at 3rd draft because of the crisis situation.
I’m told that this will stay in place until end of November, at which time they hope to have caught up and normal business will resume. Sharon said she will stay in touch and let us know where they are up to at the end of November.
Please let me know if you have any questions on this or have any info to pass on.
All Best
