iPlayer Boxsets

Dear D&D members,

A note from last week’s D&D meeting:

The BBC is trying to extend the use of iPlayer as a catch-up service and asking for 12 month use of boxsets – pending an increase to the Writers’ Digital Payment pot, to be negotiated. However the level of increase and implementation date is yet to be agreed and we feel this archive use does not reflect the ‘catch up’ nature of the WDP payment so a separate negotiation is in progress.

No terms have yet been agreed by the BBC forum and agents should resist. We are aware that BBC is telling agents, “WDP have indicated they are happy” – this is not true. If you are approached to allow a series to be on iPlayer for 12 month please say no – this is not agreed.
