NBC Universal – contract / special stips issues

Hi all

I just wanted to see if other people are having issues currently with NBC Universal not issuing contracts and then withholding client payments at the end of a job?

We have had an issue with DODGER and now THE CAPTURE and I am finding them to be repeat offenders, who don’t send special stips in advance of a client stepping on set and then refuse in most instances to make any changes when they send them months later.

I just wanted to remind everyone that we can quite simply refuse to sign special stips that are sent to us after a client has stepped on set. They are a privilege and not a right and if they want us to sign 25 pages of legalese in addition to the union agreement, they need to at least send them while we still have some sort of negotiating power. Please refuse to sign anything beyond the PACT/Equity agreement if you are not sent it in advance and don’t be bullied in order to get your client paid. I am going to raise the issue with Equity again so please let me know if you have had the same problem and I will make a list.

Thanks all! (I can’t think of one Agent who wouldn’t want to avoid 25 pages of special stips if they knew they had Equity’s backing to just say no!)
