As you know, two years ago we were told that there was to be a universal pay freeze on Eastenders. However I have recently discovered this has not totally been the case. On probing further with the BBC I have been told that in extremely exceptional circumstances, where cast members are utterly indispensable to long term storylining, they may consider offering two year deals at an enhanced fee. I have expressed concern that we have been in the dark about these exceptions and they have given me their word that from now on, when renewing contracts, they will be transparent about the way things are working. Please be aware of this when your clientââ¬â¢s contract is up for renewal. We will have Eastenders as an agenda item at the next meeting on 14th September.
