This was discussed at yesterday’s Artists’ Meeting. Spotlight are moving towards relaxing the current practice of protecting actors unique names. Initially they suggested two possibilities:
A – similar or identical sounding, but with unique spelling (Ami Daniels, Amy Daniels, Amy Danyals)
vs
B – completely restriction free (ie two actors may share a name).

It probably doesn’t need saying, but agents who attended yesterday’s meeting were strongly against the move.
