Here is some important information for those of you who represent child performers.
Equity now accept children from aged 10 upwards as members – (at reduced fees and reduced jining fees) Please advise “your parents” this is a very good move.
The Children’s section of the PMA have been in talks and negotiations with
Equity on the PACT Agreement and the advice of Equity is to only accept the following for your child clients who have been cast by Casting Directors.
Engagement Fee:
This should be no less than 50% of the minimum adult fee = £257.50
You may of course negotiate upwards depending on age and exoerience
Some agents have recently succeeded in getting full fees for their clients
Production Days
These should be 50% of the adult fee = £28.50
These deal should attract exactly the same pre purchases as any adult in the same show. This can be anything from the 35% for ROW and any or all of the other territories pre purchased
A BUY-OUT means – all rights bought out. This is not the same as pre purchases
“A Buy out ” is unacceptable in terms of “narrative programmes – series, serials, sitcoms, comedies.
Sometimes, however, it might be a first job in a one off show and it might be low budget and the money may not sound so attractive – and for these kind o engagements we ask that you use your own judgement – but not to make a habit of it.
