vaccinations / testing

vaccinations / testing

Hi All,
I’ve received a few queries today about vaccinations so thought it would be worth recirculating Equity’s current stance, below:

Vaccinations
• Equity let us know they had rejected a proposed addendum to contracts made by SOLT which
would allow producers to enforce company members declaring their vaccine status and having
to get vaccinated to accept a job

• SOLT are seeking legal advice as to whether they can impose this as employers, but at present
they cannot

• Equity are behind Producers testing casts for Covid and agents reported cases where a cast
member was happy to self-test with a nurse present and this was accepted by the producer.

• Please see below wording from Equity on this to make their stance clear:

Despite the opinion from SOLT’s Legal Counsel, Equity does not accept that vaccination status
can be made a mandatory condition of a contract. Equity clearly encourages members to be
vaccinated at the earliest possible opportunity where they can but we also understand that there
may be legitimate reasons why an individual can’t. We will not change our position unless there is
Government legislation that runs counter to it. In the meantime, although we will not be actively
campaigning, we will support any individual member who is being refused a contract on the basis
of the issue of vaccination. Our position on testing is that it can be made a mandatory condition of
a contract.
