Agent’s assistant – part time

COMPANY INFORMATION
The Agency represents all manner of writers and directors working in drama across film, television and theatre, as well as children’s authors and illustrators in its bespoke children’s literary department.
The children’s book department’s clients span the range from YA novels such as Malorie Blackman’s Noughts & Crosses, classic fiction including Paddington Bear by Michael Bond, and picture books with illustrators such as Lydia Monks and Guy Parker-Rees.
THE ROLE
This part-time job is to offer support to the children’s literary department.
We are looking to hire someone 2 days per week starting 1 September 2021. The ideal candidate would be able to work 4 half days per week. We envisage this set-up working well for someone who is already working part-time in publishing or a related industry e.g., as a bookseller.
Role responsibilities:
• To assist and support existing team
• Invoicing and tracking payments
• Organising contracts for signing and entering into RMS system
• Updating client pages on company website
• Keeping our publication schedule up to date with upcoming books
• Recording subsidiary rights sales and digitizing international editions’ covers
• Handling permission requests and drawing up licence paperwork
• Reading unsolicited submissions
• Liaising with clients and reading their manuscripts as requested
• Updating social media as requested
We are offering a salary of £9,471 PA (pro rata amount based on a full-time salary of £23,677.50).
THE CANDIDATE

• A passion for children’s books would be expected
• Confidence, administrative capability and responsibility are core skills
• Prioritises well and performs tasks with attention to detail
• We would welcome someone with a friendly and professional manner
• Have a good knowledge of computing systems / digital / social media
• Someone who wants to learn and is keen to get the most out of any new opportunity
