Business Affairs Executive

This position is focused on providing business affairs support for agents, including reviewing and negotiating contracts at various stages of negotiation. Reporting to 1 line manager and working alongside 2 other Business affairs executives supporting the Film/TV department.

Main duties:
– To review drafts of contracts as they come into the department.
– To establish for agents the points outstanding in specific negotiations.
– To advise on and negotiate contracts at various stages including TV & film agreements (primarily book and script options/format deals/writing agreements/directing agreements), with a view to developing own caseload of contracts.
– To prepare deal correspondence summaries where necessary to assist in the review of contracts and the formulation of similar deals.
– To draft and prepare contract summaries for internal use.
– To assist with departmental projects and/or initiatives. To provide general business affairs office support such as helping to devise and maintain the department’s precedents and a database of trade information relevant to business affairs.
– To perform other related duties as assigned.
Essential Knowledge and Experience
– Excellent digital literacy and IT skills
– The ability to understand and analyse agreements and other legal documents.
– Excellent attention to detail with strong communication and negotiation skills (written and verbal)
– Good working knowledge of the terms of writing, directing and option agreements in television and film.
– Experience of drafting contracts and concluding deals successfully.

Essential Skills
– Excellent knowledge of Microsoft office and computer skills
– Be well organized, efficient and can prioritize and work well under pressure with a calm approach
– Ability to maintain confidentiality
– Genuine interest and enthusiasm for the film and television sector
– Ability to use initiative and to prioritise tasks effectively
– Ability to exercise independent judgment and determine when consultation with others is required
– Be happy and willing to take on any matter however trivial or important in order that the team together can achieve its goals
